Jaime Cruz Rodríguez
Maracaibo, 1964
A graphic designer, graduates from the Neuman Design Institute in 1986. He worked as Editorial Manager at: Comunicaciones Tecnicas and Editorial Exceso. For three years he participated in the renovation of the Science Museum of Caracas as Divulging Manager. Between 1997 and 2008 he has worked as Design Manager at C.A. Editora El Nacional. He takes part in the interdisciplinary group that together with the Cases studio in Spain developed the redesign project of the newspaper El Nacional.
He has coordinated editorial design projects for publications such as: Empaque, Electrotecnia, Corpovoz, Nexo, Viernes, Exceso, Cocina y Vino, Business Venezuela, Primicia, Internet World Venezuela, Todo en Domingo.
He has developed the design of the Actualidad collection of Editorial Debate and more recently he designed the collection Llamalo amor, si quieres, for Editorial Santillana.
Since 1989 he has undertake an intense academic activity at Prodiseño, School of Design and Visual Communication. He created the fields of typography and design workshops. The works of his students have been presented in many exhibits in various cities of Venezuela. Two of these projects have won prizes at the World Design Contest that takes place every year by the American magazine ID (2000 and 2003 editions).
